One Small Change That Skyrocketed My Productivity

One small change has significantly boosted my productivity: tracking my daily habits. You can use a journal, notepad, spreadsheet, or even an app to do this. Personally, I’ve been using an app called Habit Tracker (available in the Apple App Store), and it’s been a game-changer. I’ve included all my business, spiritual, health, and personal growth habits—the things I aim to accomplish daily. The app provides a clear overview of what needs to get done, keeping me focused on building myself instead of scrolling through social media (which is always tempting!

A Lesson on Recovering Quickly

This morning, I had a conversation with a close friend about life. His sons are playing soccer (they chose the right sport!), and he shared an important lesson with them: soccer teaches you to recover quickly. Lose the ball? Recover quickly and get into a position where you can win it back. Sprint back on defense, recover quickly, and eventually, you’ll regain possession. It’s a simple principle, but it applies to life too.

Staying on Track During Stressful Times

Stress has certainly caused me to get off track with my habits. We’ve had some pretty major life events that increased stress levels, and my mind goes into high gear, figuring out options and potential solutions—or simply what we need to do to persevere through whatever challenge life throws at us. That said, I believe the level of stress a situation creates depends on your strength, emotional management, problem-solving skills, etc.

Why Side Hustles Work for Experienced Professionals

As experienced professionals, we must ask ourselves an important question: Is what we are doing leading to the life we want to live? If the answer is yes, keep doing it. If no, what must change? And if no… what’s the next step? I’m an advocate of side hustles to diversify income. While the experienced professional might feel secure in their position and accomplishments, why not diversify? Multiple streams of income are better than one, right?

Why a Side Hustle Is the New Career Ladder

When I graduated from school, the path to success seemed straightforward: find a well-paying job, work hard, and climb the career ladder to earn more and lead more. That was over 20 years ago, and times have changed. Today, the opportunity to become an entrepreneur or build a side hustle has never been better. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this: pursue your career with full dedication after graduation, but don’t stop there.

One Practice to Keep Your Mind Sharp and Focused

There are many ways to keep your mind sharp and focused, but for me, it’s reading. I aim to read 10 pages of a personal development book each day. This habit challenges my thinking, teaches me new ways to grow, and helps me apply myself more effectively. Reading just 10 pages a day may not seem like much, but with consistency, it adds up. Over a month, that’s 300 pages—roughly one book or more.

How I define success in business beyond profit

A business exists to make money, but for me, success is more than just profit. At its core, a business is about solving problems. The more problems you solve, the more value you create—and the profit will follow. Whether you’re running a business or working in one, the goal should always be to add value and solve problems. When you stay focused on genuinely helping people, the money tends to take care of itself.

How I Used ChatGPT to Create a Grocery Checklist

My wife usually handles the family grocery shopping, but today it was my turn. After finishing the shopping, I looked at the receipt with all our purchases and thought, “Wouldn’t it be great to have a reusable checklist for our regular grocery shopping?” Here’s what I did: I took a picture of the receipt using my iPhone. Using Google Lens, I selected the text from the receipt and copied it.

One small money habit that can build wealth over time

Without a doubt, the power of compound interest is a simple habit of saving money and reaping the benefit of time as money is compounded and interest is earned on the interest plus principle, over and over again. In fact, a penny a day doubled for 30 days would be over $5 million and demonstrates the compound effect. However, I also believe the small habit of budgeting and tracking spending builds wealth over time as good stewardship ensures there is money available to invest.

One daily habit that helps me strengthen my faith

I would say it’s stopping and focusing on my faith and connection with God is one habit that helps me strengthen my faith. So, that could be my morning routine which includes prayer time, reading my grateful list as well as reading my Bible or a devotion. I think the key with anything is to have habits in your life that are going to move you forward in whatever area of life you want to succeed.

The biggest lesson I've learned about starting or running a business

My wife and I started an e-commerce business together. The biggest lesson is that it’s not easy. Anything worthwhile requires work. There is no get rich quick. It requires a daily commitment and perseverance. With that, it can be a lot of fun and that’s probably the second lesson - have fun!

One trait every great leader should embody

I think the one trait every great leader should embody is integrity. Without integrity, a leader has nothing. There is no solid ground in which to stand and no credibility.

Update

Amazing day focused on family, fitness and impact. Now a restful, relaxing Saturday evening.

I think the key is to be willing to fail, fail fast and evaluate the experience.

My favorite way to reduce stress is to get to the gym or go for a walk. Nothing beats exercise which helps me clear my thinking.
